Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is also an author. She is co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news website and a TV host as well as a writer and charity donor. Originally from Greece she came to England at the age of 16 and then graduated at the age of 16 from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. Being the first non-English-speaking student, she was elected as president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. The years that followed her graduation, she became an important conservative journalist who was syndicated. In the years later she created The Huffington Post which featured criticism of the present political landscape. Her celebrity status helped her to get a number of prominent contributors to post their views on news, politics and other topics. Arianna got noticed after she decided in 2003 to be an independent candidate for the California Recall Election to replace Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of a Detroit fuel-efficient car project. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as one of the most influential women in media. She was ranked 12th position in the list and in the same year the Guardian placed her in their top 100 of the media lists. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her director of its media company and also owned the other AOL products like Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Her parents were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, a management advisor and journalist. While she was closely associated with her father it was her relationship with her mother which shaped her entire life. Her leadership skills were evident at an early age. After the 16th year of her life she started her studies at her native United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined the college debating society Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned an MA in Economics. The years that followed when she graduated, she was a television presenter and columnist. She also appeared in an edition of Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books taking editorial help from him.
