April Ross
April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball athletes to win medals at least twice in an Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside Ross at Tokyo to win her third gold in the coming days. But more than that, Ross is aiming to capture her very first Olympic gold. Since she's 39 years old she could have her last chance. Nevertheless she is confident that top honors are firmly at hand. If we perform at our very highest or perform well, I think we'll win the gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. In addition, I'm planning be relying on a little bit of luck. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents as well as her sister were residents there. She went on to compete in numerous activities in Newport Harbor High School. In addition to indoor volleyball, she played basketball and jogged track in her pre-college days. While she did well at indoor volleyball however, it was evident that her skills were above average. According to her bio her high school days, she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) and setter (outside blocker). Her achievements were rewarded when she was named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National Player of the Year. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her for volleyball. Ross and Klineman started their partnership in 2017, but Ross has been a beach celebrity for a long time prior to. She has won major competitions with different players. A couple of those has become an icon of the world of volleyball. From 2007 until 2013, she was a team alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Along together with Kessy Ross, she won the World Championship in 2009 when she competed internationally. This duo went on to win a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team to beat for the gold. The fate of the matter was that Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. Both went on to win the bronze medal in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. Ross played for the USC Trojans in college years after she graduated high school. The time she spent at USC was awe-inspiring. She was a All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year in 2000 as a young freshman. In 2000, her Trojans also reached the Final Four. In her sophomore season she suffered a devastating personal loss and still managed to earn the honor of being named an All-American. Over the course of the two years she played for the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them to win two consecutive titles. In 2003-2004, Ross was named the top female volleyball player at a collegiate level in America by the Honda Sports Award. Ross was a student of international relations at USC. Margie Ross did not get to see Ross achieve beach volleyball's top level. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She continues to cherish her mother who died. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration for her at and off the beaches.
