Jessica Chastain

JessicaJessica Michelle Chastain, born March 24, 1977 is an American actress. Known for primarily starring in films that have feminist themes, she has received numerous accolades, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine listed her as one of the 100 most influential persons on the planet in 2012. Chastain was drawn to acting at a young age and made her professional stage debut in 1998 in Shakespeare's Juliet. After studying acting at the Juilliard School, she was hired to a talent holding deal with the television producer John Wells. She was a frequent guest star on numerous television shows and played several roles in stage productions. After her debut in film at age 31 in the drama Jolene (2008), Chastain made her mark in the year 2011 with six films including the dramas Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2011). She earned Academy Award nominations for playing an aspirational socialite in the period drama The Help (2011) and an CIA analyst in the suspense thriller Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The science-fiction films Interstellar (2014) & The Martian (2015) were commercially more successful than the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain was acknowledged for her performance as a strong-willed woman including in the dramas A Most Violent Years (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017). She also appeared in the miniseries on television Scenes from a Marriage (1921). She went on to portray Tammy Faye Bakker in the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021) which won her the Academy Award for Best Actress and Tammy Wynette in the miniseries George & Tammy (2022). Chastain founded Freckle Films to promote diversity in film production. She is also an investor in Angel City FC. She has a strong voice on mental health issues, as well as gender and racial equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo (fashion executive) is her spouse.
